Insight On Veterans

How many US veterans are homeless in 2023? 35,574
According to the results of HUD's 2023 Point-in-Time count, announced last month, the number of veterans who experienced homelessness in 2023 rose by 7.4% from the previous year to 35,574.

There are many reasons why veterans can become homeless; Poverty, lack of support from family/friends, substance use and mental health challenges that may develop or worsen as a result of trauma they experience while serving.
According to a report from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, there was a 19% increase in Texas veterans experiencing homelessness in 2023 — one of the largest jumps nationwide.
